So what exactly can this new T3 V2 framework help you to develop a good Joomla template?
Let's join Hung Dinh with his talk on this exciting topic.
In his Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit keynote entitled "How to Prevent Community: Making Sure Your Pond Stays Small", Josh Berkus, PostgreSQL Experts CEO, suggested that you cannot have too much legalese to prevent community - the longer and more complex, the better. In a fun way, this illustrates that in the open source world legal aspects are often seen as hindrances. The bad reputation of legalese may be deserved, but this talk will try to show that it is also unnecessary. Legal aspects can be a positive tool for open source collaborative community building just like other tools in the toolkit of community managers and leaders. Using three examples, the idea is to show that sufficient legal coverage can be achieved in a way that is more understandable and better suits community needs. Do you think legal aspects are always a hindrance? This talk will try to change your mind.
The jSeblod team (Sébastien & Alexandre on site) introduces jSeblod CCK, the first Content Construction Kit integrated to Joomla and compatible with all its extensions.
jSeblod CCK is a very powerful and flexible tool for creating and managing very complex websites, such as real estate websites, recruitment websites, editorial websites... jSeblod CCK, still little known to the general public, is revolutionizing the world of Joomla extensions, it already inspires major players in the Joomla community.
The major features of jSeblod CCK will be set out, such as the management of content types, fields, templates, search engines, users...
Innovation is the leitmotiv of jSeblod, the new major developments for 2010 will also be revealed...
With tens of thousands of registered users and even more websites that have AEC deployed, the circuitously named Account Expiration Control Component has been source of surprise and frustration. Ranging from: This functionality? As Free Software? (And, more recently: At this price?) to the realization that a lot of functionality comes with quite a burden to configure it, we have done our best to keep up with our own userbase.
However, around 2009, it became apparent that a rewrite was inevitable - breaking up the software and offering more managable and flexible pieces from the big, monolithic component that AEC has grown to be.
The first part of the talk will be devoted to giving you an idea of the component, what it can do and where its limitations are. Not to dwell on the past for too long, but until the rewritten version is done, we are confident that a lot of users will still be interested in what AEC actually is.
The second part will deal with the future of Valanx - our plans of restructuring AEC and, fingers crossed, beta versions of work in progress that we will have totally done by May 31st. No really!
If you don't know yet:
The Free Software (commercial GPL) AEC component allows you to offer paid memberships on your website. It integrates with major components (it ships with more than 50 plugins) and supports more than 40 payment processors. Especially the flexibility of conducting other components has proven to be invaluable for AEC users.
Apart from that, it offers a wide range of standard e-commerce features - Integration with your registration process, Shopping Cart functionality, Discount Coupons and Im- and Export helpers.
If you are curious, you can already learn a bit about AEC in our Online Tour.
Do you love to write software, but sometimes cannot get rid of the feeling that you are going nuts? Bonkers? Stark raving mad?
You are not alone! In fact, there is a very good chance that there is a person trying to out-do you in a lot of ways - some of which you would not (or, indeed, could not) even have thought of.
That person is David Deutsch and in this 22 hour talk (or 22 minutes - depending how fast you feel compelled to leave the room) he will run you through the twists and turns of being a self-employed Free Software developer. Having dealt with the full spectrum of insanities (only stopping short of installing a laser on the moon), he will have valuable information on managing your largely boundary-free work life and the even less bounded demands that your users might have on your time.
Themes include "How to start, even when lacking formal education, business interest or intent", "How to build and maintain a habit of shipping software, also: getting up in the morning", "Building an easy-access information storage to support your brain when it's gone fishing" and "11 Incredible Mind Tricks: Lifehacking to free yourself from any productivity you used to have".
