Often is making a Website accessible an unloved task, people think that this is to many work only for a small group of visitors. The presentation will show that consider accessibility is a win for every visitor and a win for the site creator. I will propose a small check list and a strategy to include accessibility aspects right form the start. It is a presentation with practical view on accessibility and the goods for everyone.

Joomla and MongoDB

Written by Mitch Pirtle

About Joomla!

Many folks know Joomla!, one of the most often-used content management systems. Few have had the opportunity to take it to extreme scale in performance and capacity, and fewer still have been able to make it scale most effectively.

About MongoDB

MongoDB is at the forefront of the NoSQL movement, in which modern databases leave the restrictions of relational theory behind for speed, scale and developer productivity.

About This Session

This session will demonstrate best practices in leveraging the combination of Joomla! and MongoDB. We'll be using actual projects as case studies so participants can learn how to best scale Joomla! for a variety of applications by taking advantage of MongoDB.

Content Construction Kits, it was the Joomla! Hype for 2009, we see 3 extensions grow up. With Flexicontent, K2 and Zoo we have more then enough options for creating content beside the **normal** Joomla! content.

All three extensions give you the possibility to add custom fields to a content element. But the concepts behind this functionality are different. In this presentation you will learn something about the pro and cons for each of the different solutions. When you should use one and when an other. How extensible are the CCK's etc?

What's in a name

Written by Brian Teeman

In this session you will not learn anything about building a website with Joomla!. You won't even learn anything about writing an extension or coding a template!

Instead you will hear the trials and tribulations, the battles and compromises, the guidelines and procedures that took place when deciding on the name Joomla!

You'll hear about the three final choices, the initial reactions and the lessons to be learned when chosing a name for a new project.

Instead of the name you have come to love (or hate) it could easily have been something that sounded like a Russian battleship.
