Multilingual websites are the key to successful communication in international business. JoomFish is the first and completely open multilingual solutions for managing your translations in Joomla. The translation workflow enables you to organize unlimited languages and any information available in the Joomla CMS.

The project was founded back in 2004 with the first initial version for the CMS Mambo. One million downloads later the project serves a wide range of corporate websites, shopping portals and government organizations to provide their multilingual content to the world wide audience. Among the many other projects the United Nations, The World Health Organization Africa, The Brazilian Alliance in the USA, The European Community of Skiteachers uses Joomfish on theirs websites.

The purpose of Joomfish is not to automatically translate your website but to help you in the management of the translation process. By managing multiple content languages you can link complete localizations of your original information and provide a complete localized information to your customers. At this point Joomfish does not stop by managing your content translations but also allow you to change the for example the price of a product depending on the language or country you provide the services for.

For the project is important that the whole source code is released under the GPL since the first version. The sources of our core extension are always available free of charge, even the most recent development trunk. This gives you the chance to risk free test and evaluate the solution prior integrating it in your website.

For web agencies and professional users we offer an optional service club providing you with professional support and additional multi-lingual solutions. This club gives you the possibility to protect your investment on the longer term as you can provide additional quality and services to your customers while using the risk free and predictable products. As all our products and add-ons are released under the GPL as well, you can use them without limitations of time and distribution.

For the JoomFish team Alex Kempkens, Geraint Edwards and Carolien de Groot will attend the J and Beyond conference. We will have several talks and try to organize an open meeting about the future of Joomfish.

MKPostman is one of the long existing newsletter extensions for Joomla. It was completely rebuild recently and is now presented by the core developer Mandy Butschke during the event. Mandy will also introduce you in the process and issues she had while rebuilding an extension such as MKPostman.

Starting an initiative such as a conference for an open source project is always challenging. Since most of us do not organize conferences regularly, the whole event relies on finding partners that are committed to the event and the project itself.

After the last Joomla!Day in Germany 2009, we came up with the idea to organize an event for a wider audience focusing on not only Joomla, but also other projects or people beyond the German speaking areas. Our main partner, Mittwald, supported this idea from the beginning and we have attracted quite an impressive list of registered users that supported our call for papers and related voting process. Now, having an international group of people suggesting about 60 papers is one side of the coin, having an international group of attendees the other. As of today, we have more than 120 confirmed attendees from Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States of America. Let me think we are missing someone ... oh yes, today I got a confirmation from Vietnam as well!

I can really call this an international conference, and I'm honored by the feedback we've received. What is even more exciting is that we had been able to confirm all speakers that handed in a proposed session. As of today the conference program is published on our site (http://jandbeyond.org/programme.html) and all speakers have started to prepare their trips and presentations already.

We already discussed at the start that we would like to organize video broadcasting from the event, as well as record most of the sessions to allow to view them afterwards. With Kaltura we found a partner that will help us to make this happen. We are currently organizing the technical issues so that you will be able to view presentations such as the keynote from Kai Oswald Seidler (Oracle/Sun).

What will make the event even more interesting is the group of partners that will present their solutions, services, and contributions to the open source projects. In addition to our already confirmed partners Addison-Wesley and Francis Publishing we can now add three more to the list. With the team of the Nooku project a highly committed contributor to the Joomla community will offer master class trainings for their framework during J and Beyond. Now we are very honored to announce that Nooku (http://www.nooku.org) is also an official sponsor for J and Beyond, and they will be available during the whole event in our expo area for your questions, talks and discussions.

In addition to technical topics, templates are one of the most important aspects of Joomla and other open source projects. The market of templates is very interesting, as are the innovations that have been created. If you've installed Joomla 1.5, you already have one of the templates from JoomlArt (http://www.joomlart.com) as it is part of the Joomla 1.5 distribution package. JoomlArt won at the time of the 1.5 release a community vote for the best Joomla template, and they have not stopped providing good templates. Giving back to the community has been something they've done since then, and this year they will also support the J and Beyond event as one of our Gold sponsors. Not only that you will be able to talk with members of the JoomlArt team about their templates, you can even discuss and see how easy it is to create your own websites based on their templates. As partner for this event and supporter for Open Source community JoomlArt offers a 35% off coupon for all of their products until the 1st of June 2010 for all participants of the J and Beyond conference and community voting process.

As a third Joomla related partner, the Joom!Fish project confirmed their sponsorship for J and Beyond as well. Joom!Fish will have their yearly Joom!Fish team summit during J and Beyond and so the whole team will most likely be on site. At the stand, they will present some interesting projects created with Joom!Fish and be available for your questions.

Now with these three new partners, the J and Beyond event has a quite impressive list of international attendees and partners. We are still talking to some more and I'm really excited to see what is going to happen during the 72 hours of J and Beyond 2010.
